BEFORE YOU APPLY:

The application process for the NWPD is an extensive one. Please make sure to allow yourself sufficient time to complete this process. It is recommended you review our minimum requirements and preferred qualifications before you submit your application.

By completing this application, you acknowledge and understand honesty, integrity, and lifestyle are areas we scrutinize closely when considering applications. All questions in the below documents are necessary for this purpose. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure their application is accurate and complete as incomplete or illegible applications will not be reviewed.

Applications are valid for one year from the date of submission.

All documents submitted with your application become the property of the NWPD and will not be returned to the applicant.

The majority of NWPD communication is sent via email with many directed through our Applicant Tracking System – BambooHR. Unfortunately, many of our emails end up in the applicant’s spam folders leading to missed invitations and important communications. It is your responsibility to check your email inbox and spam folder frequently. It is also recommended you add emails from NWPD as well as BambooHR to your safe contacts.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Step 1 – Review the Reference Documents listed below to ensure you have everything you need to start the process.

Step 2 – Complete the three Application Documents listed below in Phase 1 and submit your application to the NWPD through our Career Portal.

Step 3 – Start preparing the Supporting Documents listed below in Phase 2. We will request these later in the process and will send instructions via email. Of note, these documents will need to be provided together in one submission.

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS – PHASE 1:

  1. NWPD Police Constable Application (APPLICATION – LAST NAME, First Name)
  2. NWPD Security Clearance Questionnaire (SCQ – LAST NAME, First Name)
  3. Consent Form (CONSENT – LAST NAME, First Name)

Instructions:

  • These three aforementioned Application Documents are to be downloaded and saved to your computer.
  • These are dynamic fillable PDF forms. They will not open in web browsers, mobile telephones, or tablets.
  • Please see the trouble-shooting instructions below.
  • Of note, it is highly recommended to periodically save the document to prevent accidental data loss.
  • When you have completed the documents listed above and are ready to submit, please save the file as detailed above in blue.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS – PHASE 2:

  1. Vision Report
  2. Audiometric Report
  3. Colour Passport-Style Digital Photo
  4. Drivers Licence (Front & Back)
  5. SIN Card or Confirmation of SIN Letter
  6. Birth Certificate
  7. Proof of Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  8. First Aid & CPR Certificate
  9. Official High School Transcripts
  10. Official Post-Secondary Transcripts
  11. Official International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES) Report (If applicable)

Instructions:

  • These aforementioned Supporting Documents will be requested later in the process.
  • Although not required in the first instance, we recommend you start to get these in order to prevent any delay in your application proceeding through the hiring steps.

 

TROUBLE-SHOOTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPENING THE ABOVE DOCUMENTS:

  1. We recommend using Firefox or Chrome as your web browser.
  2. The form(s) MUST be opened and completed using Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat Standard/Pro.
  3. You may download the latest FREE version of Adobe Acrobat Reader for your computer operating system from Adobe’s website: https://get.adobe.com/reader/ [get.adobe.com]
  4. We recommend setting Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat Standard/Pro as the default viewer for PDF documents.
  5. If you downloaded the free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, you may need to restart your computer.
  6. For PC:
    1. Right click on document; and
    2. Save to your computer (Save Link As, Save Target As, or Save As)
  7. For MAC:
    1. Press and hold “Ctrl” while clicking on the document; and
    2. Save to your computer (Download Link, Download Link As, or Save Link As)
  8. Once saved/downloaded to your computer, the documents should open in Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat Standard/Pro from your saved location or from the Adobe Reader software itself.
