How do I...
If the crime you are reporting is an emergency, call 911.
If the crime you are reporting is not an emergency, you can call the non-emergency line at 604-525-5411 or attend our Front Counter at 555 Columbia Street, New Westminster, BC.
Please be advised that we are experiencing an increase in Police Information Check and Taxi Permit applications. Normal processing time is 2-4 weeks and we are working diligently to process each application as quickly as possible. In order to assist us with this process we are requesting applicants refrain from contacting the NWPD to check the status, until 4 weeks after your application has been submitted.
If you are arranging to work as a taxi driver or chauffer in New Westminster you must obtain a Taxi/Chauffer Permit.
**We are unable to receive applications between 1300 and 1400 hrs.**
Please attend the New Westminster Police Department with the following items:
Three (3) months prior to the expiration of your current Taxi/Chauffeur Permit, attend the NWPD with all of the items listed above (“How to apply for a Taxi/Chauffeur Permit”).
Late submissions or applications submitted close to your Taxi/Chauffeur Permit expiration date may cause processing delays.
If you have a similar or exact name, date of birth, and gender that matches someone with a criminal record, you will be required to submit fingerprints to the RCMP in Ottawa before your application can be completed.
If fingerprints are required, every effort will be made to complete this task at the time of your application submission. Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, an appointment may need to be scheduled for another day.
If fingerprints are required, an additional $25 fee will be charged.
