Parent’s Night Out

The Parents’ Night Out committee was formed in 2011 in response to the need for parent education around topics that affects children and youth living in New Westminster. In January 2016, The New Westminster Police in conjunction with various committee groups hosted a Social Media Workshop for Parents. The evening featured guest speaker Jessie Miller and Carol Todd of the Amanda Todd Legacy. The evening covered topics of cyber bullying, internet safety, and social media.

Soccer School

The New Westminster Police Summer Soccer School is a unique recreation program bringing together police officers and youth for a fun filled week. The program is limited to children aged 5 to 10 years. The school runs for five days and involves approximately 300 children. The coaches include police officers and volunteers including community soccer players and graduates of the soccer school. The soccer school was introduced in 1981 and has become a flagship community program for the police department.
