New Westminster – In October 2023, The New Westminster Police Department Major Crime Unit arrested a man after a woman flagged down an NWPD Special Constable and shared she was violently assaulted inside a suite on Agnes Street. That same day, officers identified and safely arrested a suspect.
On April 24, 2025, 34 year old Ryan Jensen of New Westminster, was found guilty of:
One count of Aggravated Assault, contrary to Section 268(2) of the Criminal Code
One count of Assault with Weapon, contrary to Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code
One count of Killing or injuring Animal, contrary to Section 445(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
Two counts of Breach of Release Order, contrary to Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code
“This outcome reflects the unwavering dedication of numerous teams within the New Westminster Police Department,” stated Sergeant Justine Thom. “From the initial call to supporting the victim at trial, every team involved played a crucial role.”
The New Westminster Police Department would like to thank the different specialized units involved that assisted with this investigation: Major Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, patrol officers, Victim Assistance Unit, and the Special Constable who initially provided help to the victim.
