New Westminster – At the New Westminster Police Board’s July 16, 2024 meeting, the Board held elections for the positions of Chair and Vice Chair of the Board for a two-year term. With recent provincial amendments to the Police Act, the New Westminster Police Board was required to fill both positions.
Tasha Henderson was acclaimed as Chair and Heather Boersma acclaimed as Vice Chair. Chair Henderson has served on the Board since July 1, 2024 as city council’s representative, while Vice Chair Boersma, has served on the New Westminster Police Board since July 2021.
“I feel very humbled and look forward to working alongside my fellow Police Board members,” stated Chair Tasha Henderson, “In my role as Chair I will be guiding conversations to ensure that as a Police Board we’re providing strategic direction to the department, transparency to the community, and working efficiently in the service of all residents.”
