Young family asked to come forward following assault on Quayside Boardwalk

New Westminster – On the evening of June 19th New Westminster Police Department officers were dispatched to the Quayside Boardwalk after a man reported being attacked from behind by a stranger armed with a weapon. With the assistance of witnesses, police made an arrest the following day.

At this stage in the investigation, police believe there are more witnesses who have yet to come forward and they’re asking them to reach out to police to share what they saw. Specifically, officers are hoping to hear from a young family pushing a stroller who were in the area at the time.

“We want this young family to know that we will meet you where you’re at. You can provide a witness statement over the phone or we can meet you at your home, whatever is most convenient for you,” stated Sergeant Andrew Leaver. “Adding your voice to this investigation plays a big part in bringing justice to the victim and preserving community safety.”

Witnesses who have yet to speak to police should contact New Westminster Police Department by calling 604-525-5411.
