Police appeal for dash cam footage after pedestrian struck by driver

New Westminster – On Friday April 26th, at approximately 8:39am, members of the New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services reached out to the New Westminster Police Department to share that a pedestrian that had been struck by a driver at the intersection of McBride Boulevard and 6th Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene the pedestrian was receiving care from BC Emergency Health Services Paramedics. The pedestrian was transported to local hospital and investigators began working to determine what had occurred.

The pedestrian who was struck by the driver was rollerblading. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. At this time, it is believed drugs or alcohol did not play a factor in the collision. Investigators are seeking witnesses and dash cam footage from the area of 6th Avenue and McBride Boulevard from 8:20am to 8:40am.

“We urge motorists who were driving through the intersection this morning to check their dash cam footage,” stated Sergeant Andrew Leaver, “Your dash cam may have captured something. Please check.”
