Emergency 9-1-1

Suspect arrested after break and enter to vacant building

New Westminster – On March 4th the New Westminster Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a security guard who was monitoring a live video feed of a local vacant building site. The suspect had entered the site and was observed loading scrap metal into a vehicle.

When officers arrived, the suspect had fled in the vehicle; however; shortly after they were located and arrested without incident.

“Vacant buildings and construction sites can be easy targets for theft and we are recommending these sites invest in a monitored security system,” stated Sergeant Leaver. “Thanks to this foresight, officers were quickly contacted and were able to make a safe arrest.”
