New Westminster – On December 13th at approximately 3:30 pm a New Westminster Police Department officer heard screaming inside a drug store near the New Westminster SkyTrain Station bus loop. The officer located a suspect near the Canada Post counter who was yelling at staff.
The suspect did not comply with instructions from officers and proceeded to kick and bite police. A staff member shared that they had been assaulted prior to police attending the scene.
“Customer service staff deserve a safe working environment,” stated Sergeant Justine Thom. “If anyone is making you feel unsafe, know that you can call 9-1-1 and an officer will be there right away.”
The suspect was transported to the New Westminster Police Department cells. The investigation is ongoing. If you witnessed this incident and have not yet spoken to police about what you saw you’re asked to call 604-525-5411 and reference file 22-18842.
