Victim Pepper-Sprayed in Pier Park

New Westminster – On June 6, 2022 at approximately 11:30 pm, New Westminster Police Department received a 9-1-1 call in relation to a group of people at Pier Park who had been pepper-sprayed. Officers arrived on scene and determined an argument had occurred between two groups of people hanging out in the area. The suspects were quickly identified and arrested. One of the suspects was held in custody on an unrelated matter and the investigation into the assault is ongoing at this time. The victims received minor injuries and were treated on scene by BC Emergency Health Services and New Westminster Fire Rescue.

“At this point in our investigation we do not believe the victims and the suspects knew each other,” stated Sergeant Justine THOM. “We’re asking anyone who saw this assault and has not yet spoken to investigators to call the New Westminster Police Department.”
