On May 31th at approximately 4:00 pm, New Westminster Police Department patrol members received numerous 9-1-1 calls from residents in a multifamily complex about a fight between two people, one of whom was described as being armed with an edged weapon. As police made their way to the scene it was uncertain if anyone had been injured. Officers arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody without incident. Thankfully, officers determined on scene that no one had been injured and the weapon involved was a pair of scissors.
“We thank neighbours for their patience as this call prompted a large police response,” stated Sergeant Sanjay Kumar. “One person who was arrested for assault with a weapon remains in police custody.”
The New Westminster Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed this incident and has not yet spoken to police to call 604-525-5411.
