New Westminster – On April 27th, 2019 at approximately 7:30 pm, the New Westminster Police Department was called to the 600 block of East Columbia Street for a report of shots fired. Upon police attendance, an adult victim was located deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
New Westminster Police Officers were able to locate the suspect a short distance away, who was taken into custody without incident.
On December 13th, 2021, the accused, Sam Jafroudi, was found guilty of second degree murder. Mr. Jafroudi remains in custody for his next court appearance on January 6th, 2022, at which time a sentencing date will be scheduled.
“Members of the NWPD and IHIT worked together to ensure Crown Counsel had the necessary information to obtain a conviction in this trial,” stated Chief Constable Dave Jansen. I am hopeful that the victim’s family can find some closure now that Mr. Jafroudi has been found guilty.”
