New Westminster – On December 21st at approximately 10:20 pm the New Westminster Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from someone witnessing their building’s storage lockers being broken into. According to the caller, the suspect was making lots of noise and belongings could be seen strewn all over the floor.
When officers arrived the suspect did not follow instructions to come out from the storage lockers. Eventually, the suspect was safely arrested after he was found hiding inside one of the lockers.
The New Westminster Police are recommending charges for break and enter, mischief and failing to comply with an undertaking against a 41-year-old New Westminster resident.
“This resident absolutely did the right thing by calling 9-1-1 when they saw a crime in progress,” stated Sergeant Kumar. “Calling 9-1-1 allows our officers to quickly arrive on scene and make arrests.”
