New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department has secured a criminal charge against a person suspected of a bank robbery in New Westminster.
On July 13th at approximately 4:00 pm the New Westminster Police Department received a call reporting an armed robbery at a financial institution in the downtown neighbourhood. Patrol, Traffic Unit, and Crime Reduction Unit responded immediately and the suspect was quickly identified and safely taken into custody.
53 year-old Surrey resident, Frederick Thrones has been charged with the following offence:
1 count of Robbery contrary to Section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
“This was exceptional work by all the involved members,” stated Deputy Chief Constable Paul Hyland. “That this suspect was safely taken into custody within 20 minutes is amazing, I am very proud of the work done keeping our community safe.”
