Charges recommended after alleged restaurant break and enter

New Westminster –On January 24th the New Westminster Police Department received a report of a break and enter at a local restaurant. Allegedly during the early morning hours a man had broken into the restaurant and stole the cash drawer of the register which contained hundreds of dollars.

Evidence gathered at the scene in addition to other investigative techniques led officers to a suspect who resided in New Westminster. The suspect was arrested and a Report to Crown Counsel has been submitted recommending the following charges:

One count of Section 348 (1) (b) C.C.C – Break and Enter a place and commits an indictable offence

“There was excellent work done by both front line officers and detectives in this investigation,” stated Sergeant Sanjay Kumar. “We value our relationships with local businesses and are here to follow up on all crimes reported to us and work with businesses on crime prevention strategies.”
