Emergency 9-1-1

West End sees an increase in break and enters

New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department is asking residents in the West End to take precautions against break and enters. In the week of July 13th investigators responded to four daytime break and enters in this neighbourhood, an increase that is concerning for police.

In each of the incidents windows or door windows have been smashed and small electronics were typically targeted. These incidents occurred in the general area between Seventh Avenue and Tenth Avenue and Twelfth Street and Eighteenth Street.

“We are encouraging residents to call 9-1-1 immediately if they hear or see any suspicious activity,” stated Staff Sergeant Stu Jette. “Now is a good time to revisit your home security to see if there are any steps you can take to deter thieves, and please keep money and valuables out of sight from easily accessible windows.”

If you have information about these incidents or can help identify a suspect please contact the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
