Queensborough area sees an increase in theft from autos

New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department is asking Queensborough residents to help prevent theft from autos after an increase was recorded in the past week. Throughout the month of July there has been a total of 11 theft from autos reported to police.

“We cannot emphasize enough, please remove all valuables from your vehicle,” stated Staff Sergeant Stu Jette. “Don’t give thieves the chance. Take into your home all belongings including any laptops, headphones, phone chargers, or spare change. Anything can tempt a thief and when that happens it takes seconds for them to smash a window and flee with your property.”

In addition to removing belongings from your vehicle, and locking all windows and doors, police are encouraging drivers to park in secure, well-lit areas.

If you have information about these incidents or can help identify a suspect please contact the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
