New Westminster – It’s the season of pumpkin spice, mistletoe, and ugly Christmas sweaters. Now that the holidays are here the New Westminster Police Department strongly encourages you to plan a safe ride home.
“Sadly, 68 people in this province die each year in crashes involving impaired driving,” stated Acting Chief Constable Dave Jansen. “I hope this year we won’t see a tragedy like that in New Westminster.”
The NWPD would like to remind the public that if their plans include alcohol or cannabis to plan a safe ride home. Options for getting home safe include: public transit, a designated driver, Operation Red Nose, or staying the night. Fines for impaired driving range from $600-$4,060.
Operation Red Nose schedule can be found at www.operationrednosetricities.com. If you see an impaired driver please call 911.
