New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department are inviting members of the public, including residents, business owners, students, and people who frequently visit the city to participate in community consultations to help draft their next strategic plan.
“We are very excited about our community engagement process so far,” said Acting Deputy Chief Constable Paul Hyland, “We are hoping a diverse cross section of our community will attend one of the sessions and have their voices heard on this very important process.”
The new strategic plan will outline the future mission and vision of the NWPD as well as provide a framework for police engagement with the community for 2020 and beyond. The questions the police department will be asking include: What are your policing priorities? What does the NWPD do well and what could they improve upon? What can the NWPD focus on in order to provide a quality police service to you and your family?
Public input is vital in this process, and residents can save their seat for the upcoming community consultation meetings by visiting the New Westminster Police Department website: nwpolice.org. These consultation meetings will be supported by an online survey that invited public input. The survey ran from May 27th to June 24th.
In total there will be four different NWPD Strategic Planning Community Consultations, each held at the New Westminster Public Library auditorium. Please click on the link that best fits into your schedule to register.
