New Westminster – On April 27th, 2019 at approximately 7:30pm, the New Westminster Police Department was called to the 600 block of East Columbia Street for a report of shots fired. Upon police attendance, an adult victim was located deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
New Westminster Police Officers were able to locate the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident. There are no public safety concerns as a result of this incident.
IHIT will be working in partnership with the New Westminster Police Major Crime Unit to gather evidence and determine motive. From the evidence gathered so far, this homicide does not appear to be random.
Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, and no further information will be provided at this time. Further details and media availability will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.
