NWPD raising money and awareness for men’s health

New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department is reaching out to New Westminster communities to raise money and awareness for men’s health.

Two New Westminster Police Department members are donating their upper lips to the November men’s health awareness initiative, known as Movember, featuring men worldwide growing moustaches. While both Corporal Kumar and Constable Hildebrand support different causes in the field of men’s health they’re united by their desire for men to live happier and healthier lives. Each of them are motivated by seeing people they care about face men’s health issues.

“What got me involved in Movember was the change in perspective as I saw those I care about face some complex men’s health issues,” stated Corporal Sanjay Kumar, “Talking about our own personal health and mental health can be a challenge for a lot of us. The message I want to get across is to take time to care for yourself and each other, so by growing a moustache for the month of November we can create awareness and have a good time doing it.”

“There hasn’t been one person that I know that hasn’t been affected by the three issues that Movember supports, those issues being mental health, testicular cancer, and prostate cancer,” stated Constable Steven Hildebrand, “Bottom line is the goal is to raise awareness and as much money as we can and if we can do that with the help of residents of New Westminster all the better. That would be fantastic.”

The Movember Foundation is saving and improving men’s lives through projects focused on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. The money raised by NWPD will help stop men from dying too young.
