New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department is in the early stages of an investigation involving an assault with a weapon. On June 20th at approximately 11:50pm, patrol officers responded to a report of a male who was assaulted with a weapon in the 800 block of Agnes Street. When officers arrived, an adult male was being treated by Emergency Health Services, and was subsequently transported to hospital with serious injuries.
Shortly thereafter, the suspect, an adult male, was seen several blocks away, and subsequently arrested.
“The NWPD Major Crime Unit was called in to investigate, and are still in the early stages of determining what happened,” stated Sergeant Jeff Scott. “The victim is in stable condition, and our officers continue to search for video surveillance in the area.”
