New Westminster – On October 31st at approximately 11:30pm the New Westminster Police Department was called to the area of 8th Street and Columbia Street for a report of an assault with a weapon, believed to be a knife. Officers attended and located one injured male. The injured male was transported to a local area hospital with a serious injury. Two suspects were located nearby and were safely taken into custody.
The NWPD Major Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation, with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Unit.
“We’re in the early stages of this investigation, but there is no reason to believe that there is any public safety concern,” stated Sergeant Jeff Scott. “This appears to be a targeted event.”

This investigation has been turned over to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
