New Westminster – On June 30th 2016 at approximately 6:45am the New Westminster Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Carnarvon Street. When officers arrived on scene, an injured adult male was located. He was subsequently transported to hospital, but his condition is unknown at this time.
“We are in the very early stages of this investigation,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott. “Information is limited, and we are asking for any witnesses to please contact us.”
As of 2:00pm, the NWPD Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the events of this morning’s shooting, which appears to be targeted.
“As the investigation continues, we have learned that the victim is known to us,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott. “He remains in the care of medical staff in critical condition.”
At this time it is believed there is no risk to the public. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call the NWPD at 604-525-5411.
