New Westminster – On March 18th 2016 the New Westminster Police Department Major Crime Unit actively investigated two sexual related offences that occurred in the evening hours of March 17th. At about 5:30pm a man approached an adult woman standing at a bus stop on Howes Street. The man walked up behind her and pulled her pants down.
Thirty minutes later at about 6:00pm in the same area, the same man approached a different woman who was in her vehicle. This time, the male pulled down his own pants and exposed himself before she drove away.
26 year old Kyle Boyco of Surrey, BC, who was already in custody on a different matter, has been charged with the following offences:
- Sexual Assault, section 271 of the Criminal Code;
- Assault, section 266 of the Criminal Code; and,
- Indecent Act, section 173(1) of the Criminal Code.
“Because of the exceptional investigation by our Major Crime Unit, and the assistance of the public, we were able to identify and arrest Mr. Boyco,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott. “These types of investigations can be quite complicated, but as a department we strive to provide timely resolutions to ensure public safety.”
Mr. Boyco remains in custody to appear before the courts on these allegations.
