New Westminster – On February 5th 2016 at 3:25pm, members of the NWPD responded to Brunette Avenue and Sherbrooke Street for a serious collision. A cyclist was struck by a semi-truck and has sustained serious injuries. The cyclist was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment.
The NWPD Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team has been called to investigate. Traffic is closed on Brunette for east bound traffic from East Columbia Street, and there is a single west bound lane open. The Watch Commander will alert the media when the roadway opens.
“We are in the early stages of this very serious collision, and we ask for everyone’s patience while investigate this collision,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott. “The roadway will continue to be closed while we investigate.”
