New Westminster – On January 23rd 2016 at approximately 1:00 pm, NWPD patrol officers responded to a business in the 200 block of Duncan Street for a report of a workplace accident. NWPD can confirm two deceased workers were located within the workplace. The BC Coroner Service and Workplace BC were called out to investigate, as well as the NWPD Major Crime Unit.
“We are not able to discuss the identity of the deceased individuals, as we still need to speak with their families,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott. “This is a very sad and tragic situation that continues to be investigated by our detectives who are working in collaboration with the Coroner Service and Worksafe BC.”
The NWPD Victim Assistance Unit has been offered to anyone who may have been affect by today’s events.
