New Westminster – On October 28th 2015 at approximately 6:45pm the New Westminster Police Department responded to the 1000 block of 4th Avenue to assist the New Westminster Fire Department with a vehicle fire. After the fire was extinguished, one deceased person was located in the vehicle.
The NWPD Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit have conducted an extensive investigation in collaboration with the New Westminster Fire Department and the BC Coroner Service. After close examination of the evidence, the identity of the deceased adult male has been confirmed, and foul play has been ruled out.
“We have notified the family and offered a number of support services, such as our Victim Assistance Unit,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott. “We are not in a position to comment any further, but foul play is not a factor.”
