Arson – NWPD Seeks Public Assistance

New Westminster – The NWPD is investigating an arson that occurred on September 8th 2015 at approximately 2:30pm. The New Westminster Fire Department contacted the NWPD to report a suspicious fire to a three wheeled motorcycle, which was parked in the 1000 block of London Street. The arson was captured on video surveillance, which shows an unknown male walk up to the parked motorcycle, pour what appears to be gasoline from a gas can onto the bike, and then set it on fire before running from the scene.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 30 years old, wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, and black sandals or slippers, with short black hair and some facial hair. The male was last seen running from the engulfed motorcycle carrying a Jerry can. “This was a brazen daylight act which thankfully was contained and did not result in any further damage to property.” said Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott.

The NWPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual in the picture.  If you recognize this individual or have information about this incident please contact Constable Kari Turpin at 604-525-5411.
