NWPD Request on Behalf of Dhandwar Family

New Westminster – On June 3rd, 2015 a senseless attack on an innocent woman occurred in the 1500 block of 8th Avenue.  This attack resulted in a great loss to the New Westminster community and the Dhandwar family.

“In light of the tragic event that occurred this week in which we have lost not only our mom but a wife and grandma, I want to publicly thank the members of the New Westminster community who have shown an incredible amount of support at this time of loss” said a representative for the Dhandwar family.  “We would also like to thank the first responders, including the New Westminster Police Department, the New Westminster Fire Department and Emergency Health Services for their quick response in not only taking the suspect into custody but more importantly tending to our mother and making every effort to save her after the attack.”

On behalf of the Dhandwar family, the NWPD is asking and urging members of the media to please respect the fact that this is a tragic event and the family is understandably shaken and needs time to process the loss of a dear family member.

The family asks that any media requests be forwarded to Sergeant Chad Johnston of the New Westminster Police Department or Sergeant Stephanie Ashton of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
