NWPD seeking public assistance in mail theft

New Westminster – On the morning of Sunday, April 19, 2015, members responded to three complaints of mail theft that had occurred at three different apartment buildings in New Westminster between 8:00 am and 9:30 am. In each instance, the bank of mailboxes within the apartment building lobbies had been pried open and the contents of the mailboxes cleaned out.

Investigators have been able to locate security camera footage of the male believed to be responsible for these thefts and are asking the public for assistance in identifying this male.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian, 25-30 years old;
  • 6 feet tall with a thin build;
  • short, light brown hair; and
  •  a mole on his left cheek.

“This is another reminder to check and empty your mailbox everyday,” said NWPD spokesperson Sergeant Chad Johnston.  “We’d like to encourage people to take the time to empty mailboxes each day to help prevent mail theft and the possible consequences that come with it.”

These occurrences are currently under investigation by the New Westminster Police Department and anyone who may recognize the male in the pictures is asked to contact Constable Graham Bosa at 604-525-5411.
