New Westminster – On December 10, 2014 at approximately 8:40 pm, the NWPD received a call from the BC Ambulance Service that they were responding to a call of a possible fatal pedestrian collision on Brunette Avenue in New Westminster. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 52 year old female New Westminster resident was deceased at the scene. Witness accounts suggest that the female was hit by a passing westbound tractor trailer truck that was traveling on Brunette Avenue between Keary Street and East Columbia Street. The tractor trailer truck did not remain on scene. The NWPD Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team were called out and have assumed conduct of the investigation.
Brunette Avenue is closed to traffic in both directions between East Columbia Street and Braid Street until further notice.
The deceased female has been identified and the next of kin has been notified.
At this early point in the investigation, the NWPD is seeking witnesses to this collision. Also, it is very possible that the person driving the tractor trailer truck that hit the deceased did not know that they had been involved in a collision. The NWPD is encouraging any truck driver who may have any information, think that they may have been involved in this collision, to contact Constable Jaspaul Chung immediately at 604-525-5411.
