New Westminster – On Saturday, November 29, 2014 at approximately 12:10 pm, two female pedestrians were struck by a motor vehicle while crossing 6th Street in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of 5th Avenue in New Westminster. While one of the females escaped serious injury, the second female was in serious condition as emergency services personnel arrived on scene. Despite the assistance of bystanders and the efforts of emergency personnel, the victim succumbed to her injuries later that evening while in hospital. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.
This occurrence is currently under investigation by the New Westminster Police Department, Traffic and Patrol Sections. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not had the opportunity to speak with investigators is asked to please contact Cst. Ishii or Cst. Crowston at 604-525-5411.
