NWPD Seek Witnesses to Dangerous Driving In Queen’s Park

New Westminster – The NWPD are seeking the assistance of the public with regard to an incident that occurred in Queen’s Park on October 31st, 2014 at approximately 6:55 pm. Members of the NWPD Operational Support Unit observed a black Mercedes Benz travelling at a high rate of speed east on Queens Avenue at 4th Street. The members attempted to stop the vehicle, however it sped northbound on 3rd Street and subsequently hit a street sign at the corner of 3rd Street and Townsend Place. The vehicle drove across the lawn of a residence on 3rd Street almost striking a police officer who had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. The vehicle continued driving erratically north on 3rd Street where another member attempted to stop the vehicle but it continued on until the driver abandoned the vehicle at 4th Street and Regina Street.

The NWPD members apprehended the driver minutes later and placed him under arrest. The investigation is ongoing and charges will be recommended for several Criminal Code offences.

The Accused is scheduled to appear in court on January 14, 2015.
