Remembrance Day Ceremonies

New Westminster – Remembrance Day is a proud Canadian tradition and the New Westminster Police Department will continue to take part in ceremonies as planned by the City of New Westminster. We are mindful of recent events and are taking extra precautions.  As part of our due diligence, additional resources will be in place to ensure that the participants and the public remain safe. At this point, there is no specific threat to British Columbia, or specific events. Our goal is to maintain public safety at our Remembrance Day ceremonies taking place in New Westminster.

“While no specific threat has been identified towards New Westminster, we are working with the BC RCMP and our other municipal law enforcement partners to develop a coordinated plan to ensure operational preparedness and the safety of our citizens,” said Chief Constable Dave Jones. “Respectfully, for officer and public safety reasons it would be irresponsible to discuss security measures. We, along with our law enforcement partners, are continually assessing potential threats and adjusting our security needs accordingly.”
