New Westminster – The NWPD are seeking the public’s assistance in locating forty-five year old Izumi AOYAMA who is being considered a high risk missing person. AOYAMA entered Canada as a refugee in July of 2014 and had been residing in New Westminster until recently. AOYAMA is believed to be homeless, may be suffering from a mental health illness, and has no known ties to the community or social support.
Of particular concern, AOYAMA’s belongings, including her two cats, were located scattered in an isolated area of the Colony Farm Regional Park in Port Coquitlam. It is unknown how or when this property was discarded.
AOYAMA can be described as a middle aged Japanese female with straight shoulder length black hair and missing front teeth. AOYAMA was last seen wearing prescription glasses with dark frames, green sweater, purple scarf, blue jeans, light color shoes and carrying a large black leather purse with light brown trim and light brown strap.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of AOYAMA is asked to call the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411 or their local police department.
