Prolific New West property crime offenders arrested

New Westminster – Two prolific property crime offenders and a female accomplice were taken into custody yesterday by members of the NWPD Street Crime and Operational Support Units.

On Wednesday September 24, 2014 at approximately 3:00 pm, NWPD officers located a GMC pickup truck parked unoccupied in the 900 block of 12th street, which had been reported stolen out of Burnaby earlier in the day. Shortly thereafter, two known property offenders and an unknown female returned to the vehicle and drove off.

All three suspects were taken into custody without incident a short distance away with the assistance of police helicopter Air 1. The male suspects were held for court this morning and are now charged as follows:

  1. Kevin Richard MONTEMURRO, a 31 year old New Westminster resident facing one count of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of possession of stolen property
  1. Robert Arnold KARAJAOJA, a 31 year old Surrey resident facing one count of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of possession of stolen property one count of Breach of Recognizance
  2. The female suspect, Monique Maisie ANDREASEN, a 32 year old New Westminster resident is now facing one count of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of possession of break-in instruments

“We are extremely pleased that these individuals are now in custody, and we believe their arrest will have an positive impact on some of our recent property crime stats,” said Staff Sergeant Paul Hyland “We hope the message is getting out to these property crime offenders that if you are going to commit offences in our city then we will be making it our priority to put you in jail.”
