New Westminster – On Tuesday August 12, 2014 at approximately 3:40 pm, NWPD patrol officers responded to the 200 block of east 10th avenue for a report of a vehicle on fire. Upon arrival it was determined that an eastbound vehicle had driven off the road, struck a tree and caught fire. The male driver of the vehicle was unresponsive and transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The NWPD Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team were called in to assist and the roadway was closed to traffic for several hours as they processed the scene. The collision remains under investigation; however, at this stage investigators believe that the driver suffered a serious medical issue which resulted in the loss of control of the vehicle.
