New Westminster – A male arrested last week after a domestic dispute is now facing a number of charges.
On Friday August 8, 2014 at approximately 4:20 am, NWPD patrol officers responded to the intersection of Churchill and Burnaby Streets for a report of a domestic dispute. A female victim was located and informed police that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend at a residence in the 400 block of Cumberland Street. The male suspect was located and taken into custody several hours later.
Andrew Duran, a 32 year old New Westminster resident, is now charged with the following:
- Two counts of Assault under Section 266 of the Criminal Code.
- One count of Unlawful Confinement under Section 279(2) of the Criminal Code
- One count of Assault with a Weapon under Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code
- One count of Uttering Threats under Section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
Mr. Duran was remanded into custody and is next scheduled to appear in New Westminster Provincial Court on Wednesday August 13, 2014.
