New Westminster – The New Westminster Police arrested one male suspect after a serious assault involving a knife.
On Wednesday August 6, 2014 at approximately 7:00 pm, NWPD patrol officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at a residence in the 500 block of Ash Street. Upon arrival, a male victim was located suffering from serious but non-threatening knife wounds, he was treated at the scene and subsequently transported to a local area hospital by BC Ambulance.
The ensuing investigation has resulted in a male suspect being taken into custody. Kevin Francis Murphy, a 38 year old New Westminster resident, is now facing the following charges:
- One count of aggravated assault – Section 268 of the Criminal Code
- Two counts of uttering a threat – Section 264.1(1) of the Criminal Code
