New Westminster – On June 1, 2014 at 4:29 pm, the New Westminster Police Department received a report that a male had been stabbed in the 500 Block of Brantford Street in New Westminster. Patrol members arrived on scene to locate a male suffering from a stab wound to his head and covered in blood. BC Ambulance arrived on scene and the injured male was transported to a local area hospital for treatment where he received six stitches for a laceration to his head.
The female suspect, Melanie L. Campbell, a forty-two year old New Westminster resident, was arrested at the scene and has since been charged on June 1, 2014 with the following:
- Assault with a Weapon, Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code;
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Section 267(b) of the Criminal Code; and
- Assault, Section 266 of the Criminal Code (from a previously unreported assault of the same victim which occurred on May 30, 2014.)
Accused Campbell is currently in custody and her next court date is June 4, 2014 in New Westminster.
