New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department is advising that one of its police officers was injured in a motor vehicle collision on May 29, 2014. The New Westminster Police member was seconded to IMPACT (Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team) as an investigator. The IMPACT team was conducting an investigation of a stolen motor vehicle when a collision occurred. The New Westminster Police Officer sustained an injury to his leg and was transported to hospital for assessment and treatment.
A twenty four year old male has been arrested and charges are pending. IMPACT will be leading the stolen vehicle investigation and will be working with the Surrey RCMP Traffic Service who are handling the Motor Vehicle Collision.
