New Westminster – At approximately 12:30 am, the New Westminster Police Department received a 911 call reporting that several shots were fired in the area of 1st Street and Royal Avenue. As members were heading to the area, two injured males arrived at the police station in their vehicle. The two males, both in their twenties, were suffering from non life threatening injuries. One male is a resident of Maple Ridge and the other is from Vancouver Island. Both males were transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
The Forensic Identification Section have been on scene collecting evidence while the New Westminster Police Department Major Crime Section are continuing to investigate the incident. At this time, it is unknown if the shooting was targeted or if there are any gang connections.
