New Westminster – On February 28, 2014 at 4:00 pm, the New Westminster Police attended a four vehicle motor vehicle collision in the 1600 Block of Stewardson Way. The initial investigation indicates that a vehicle crossed the centre line and collided head on with a semi truck that was traveling eastbound on Stewardson Way. The driver of the vehicle that struck the semi truck was critically injured at the scene and then later succumbed to his injuries at a local area hospital. The deceased has been identified as Norman Wilding, a 52 year old New Westminster resident. There were no other injuries reported at the scene. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident however, the investigation is ongoing.
The NWPD Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team was called out to process the scene, which required the closure of Stewardson Way for a number of hours. The New Westminster Police are requesting that anyone who witnessed this collision or has any information about this incident is to contact Sergeant Terry Dhut at Ph. 604-529-2496.
