Update to charges relating to motor vehicle crashing into entrance of RCH

New Westminster – On September 9, 2012, the New Westminster Police attended the Royal Columbian Hospital after receiving a call that a vehicle had crashed through the front entrance of the hospital. An investigation was conducted and charges were submitted against Ranjit Singh SANDHU, a twenty-seven year old male from Surrey, British Columbia.

On February 27th, SANDHU, now twenty nine years old, was found guilty, at the New Westminster Law Courts, of the following charges:

1. One count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle (Section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code; and

2. One count of Mischief that caused actual danger to life by willfully damaging the property of Royal Columbian Hospital (Section 430(2) of the Criminal Code.

Sandhu pleaded guilty earlier this week to one count of Impaired Driving (Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code).

Sentencing will take place in New Westminster on March 14, 2014.
