NWPD investigate shot fired into residence

New Westminster – On February 27, 2014 at approximately 4:30 pm, NWPD patrol officers responded to a call from a resident of an apartment in the 200 block of Salter Street who said that they had found a bullet hole in their patio window. The initial investigation has indicated that the shot was fired at some point earlier in the day when the occupants were not home.

The current occupants of the suite do not have any history with the police and only recently moved in; as such, investigators do not believe they were the intended targets.

“This kind of incident is of great concern to us” said Staff-Sergeant Paul Hyland. “And while we are unable to definitely say what the motive was behind it, we are confident that the current occupants of the residence were not the intended targets.”

The bullet has been seized by investigators and will be sent for forensic analysis. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Constable Leigh Hodak at 604-525-5411 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
