New Westminster – On September 1, 2013, the New Westminster Police Department issued a news release for the purpose of warning the public and requesting assistance for an investigation into an anonymous complaint made by a male who described his plan to kidnap a woman known to him with the intention of holding her against her will.
The identity of this caller and his intended victim has not yet been determined. The investigation has confirmed that two other police agencies in Canada have received similar calls from the same suspect on the same day that he called the New Westminster Police Department.
On September 1, 2013, the Thompson RCMP Detachment in Manitoba, as well as another Canadian Police Department, both received three telephone calls from the same caller who stated similar information.
As is the case in the New Westminster investigation, neither of these other two calls from this suspect are capable of being traced, and the suspect identity and location have not been determined.
The New Westminster Police Major Crime Unit continues to investigate this matter.
