On October 24, 2012, the New Westminster Police Department was asked to assist the Quesnel RCMP with an independent external review of an incident that occurred in their cells on October 16th, 2012 which involved one of their police officers.
The NWPD assigned a senior officer to conduct a thorough and independent review of the investigation and following this review and follow up investigation a report to Crown Counsel was submitted.
New Westminster Regional Crown has now approved charges of Assault Causing Bodily harm against Allan Slaney.
As this matter is now before the Courts, the NWPD is not able to provide additional information or discuss the matter further.
