NWPD Gives Insight into Front-line Policing through “View from the Street” Blog

The New Westminster Police Department has launched their new blog titled “View from the Street” – the latest in the series of social media initiatives the department has implemented in 2012. The blog aims to give insight into the front-line work of police officers using a more personal, less “corporate” voice than is normally used in press releases and website updates.

“Our goal with View from the Street is to give the public inside access to the day-to-day experiences of our members straight from their own mouths,” said Chief Constable Dave Jones. “We’re excited to see how the blog evolves over time as we take public engagement to a new level.”

The blog’s main writer will be Constable Jeff Scott of the Traffic Unit, but the department also plans to periodically bring in guest writers from other units to provide variation in insight and experiences.

Find View from the Street at www.viewfromthestreet.ca; new posts will be announced through NWPD’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
