NWPD Is Searching For A Stolen Scooter Required For Elderly Man’s Mobility

On May 29 at approximately 1130 am, an elderly resident of the 700 block of 13th Street, discovered that his mobility scooter had been stolen out of the car park where it had been parked over the last year when not in use. It appears the scooter was taken between 9:30 am and 11:30 am, as a neighbour claims to have seen it in the car park at approximately 9:30 am.

A representative of Sunquest Mobility, the retailer of the scooter, claims that he is the only dealer in the province who is able to order replacement keys for this particular model. And since the owner has the only sets of keys in his possession, the scooter would not be of use to any other parties.

“This is a disheartening situation for the owner, as he had just one final $100 payment to make on the $1600 scooter, which he requires for mobility,” said Sergeant McDaniel of the New Westminster Police Department. “We are working to locate the scooter and return it as quickly as possible to its owner.”

The missing scooter is a one year old model and is described as having chrome mag wheels, a basket in front and back with two flag pole tubes above the rear wheels, and a Sunquest Mobility sticker on the front handlebars.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of this scooter is asked to call the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
